Custom builders, now inside Buildertrend

BuilderSolve vs CoConstruct

CoConstruct built its reputation on selections and client communication for custom home builders, and that reputation is deserved. The thing to weigh in 2026 is not the feature list but the roadmap: Buildertrend acquired CoConstruct in July 2021, and reporting through 2026 says active development on the CoConstruct codebase has stopped while customers are migrated to Buildertrend.

The short version

  1. CoConstruct is still sold — reported at around $399 a month — but is reported to be in maintenance rather than active development, with customers being migrated to Buildertrend and no public sunset date.
  2. If you are evaluating it today, ask Buildertrend directly and in writing what the support and development commitment is, and what migration would involve.
  3. Its real strength, selections management for custom builders, is genuine. Weigh that against buying into a platform whose future is a migration.

Where CoConstruct is the better choice

  • Selections and allowances for custom home builders — the workflow it was built around and still the part people praise.
  • Client-facing communication that homeowners tend to find approachable.
  • A long track record with custom builders and remodelers specifically, rather than construction generally.
  • It is backed by Buildertrend, so it is not a product that will simply disappear without a migration path.

Where BuilderSolve is different

  • The AI drafts the work, not just the summary. Ask about a job and it writes the change order, the daily log, the schedule shift or the time entry for you to approve or reject.
  • You can buy the people too. A trained construction team on the estimating, the paperwork and the books, for roughly 60% less than the same roles on your payroll — on the same contract as the software.
  • Setup includes custom coding. Migration, configuration and training, plus work on your specific workflows, inside 2–3 weeks.
  • We tell you what is not built. Purchase orders are in development, and it says so on the feature page rather than in a footnote after you have signed.
